Our Commitment to HIPAA Compliance
Prime Axis Billing Services LLC understands that protecting patient health information (PHI) is fundamental to the trust our clients place in us. Our workflows, systems, and staff training are built around the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and its associated rules.
Business Associate Agreements
As a business associate to covered healthcare providers, we enter into a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with each client prior to accessing or handling PHI. Our BAAs define the permitted uses and disclosures of PHI and our obligations to safeguard it.
Administrative Safeguards
- Access to PHI is limited to staff who require it to perform their role
- Staff receive training on HIPAA requirements and our internal privacy and security policies
- We maintain documented policies and procedures for handling PHI
Physical & Technical Safeguards
- Systems used to access or store PHI are protected with access controls and authentication
- Data in transit and at rest is protected using industry-standard security practices
- Remote work environments follow security guidelines designed to prevent unauthorized access
Breach Notification
In the event of a suspected breach involving PHI, we follow a documented incident response process and will notify affected clients in accordance with HIPAA's breach notification requirements and the terms of the applicable Business Associate Agreement.
Patient Rights
We support our clients in honoring patients' rights under HIPAA, including rights related to access, amendment, and accounting of disclosures of their health information, as applicable to our role as a business associate.
